2001: 

Coordinator for the overall design, planning, preparation, implementation and follow-up of a high-level conference on "Making Globalisation Work for the Poor – the European Contribution", organized as part of the Swedish Government’s agenda during its period as President of the European Union and celebrated in Kramfors, Sweden, 20-21 June, 2001. The conference addressed how Europe – as a region, through the European Union and at the member state level – can play a role to improve the conditions and enhance the opportunities for the poor in developing countries to take advantage of globalisation. The event – which was given the character of an informal consultation – was attended by some 70 distinguished participants from Europe, developing countries, international organisations, research institutions, civil society and from the private sector.

1999: 

Swedish Coordinator on behalf of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, managing a special secretariat for preparations and planning as well as all kinds of support during the carrying through of the Consultative Group Meeting in Stockholm in May 1999 on the Reconstruction and Transformation of Central America (in the aftermath of Disaster Mitch). Preparations for this CG Meeting were rather unusual, given the fact that it addressed all five Central American countries and was to be attended by some 500 delegates, including two Presidents and high-level delegations from all countries represented. Furthermore, the preparatory process included negotiations and practical measures for opening the meeting up for participation by civil society representatives, the holding of thematic sessions with introductory papers and, not least, the drafting of the Stockholm Declaration.

1997:
Coordinator for overall design, planning, preparation, implementation and follow-up of an international seminar for some 40 high-level researchers, experts and politicians from North and South on "International Solidarity and Globalisation: In Search of New Strategies". The seminar dealt with the conceptual framework (What is globalisation?) and then focused on socio-economic dimensions and democracy-related aspects of the globalisation process in order to suggest ways and means of renewing international solidarity in this period of dramatic and profound changes of the contemporary world order.

As Senior Programme Officer (at the Swedish Embassy in Managua) design and bear full responsibility for the implementation of a one year project including a whole series of evaluations and special studies culminating in a high-level Swedish-Nicaraguan two day workshop on: "Areas Estratégicas para la Asistencia Sueca al Desarrollo Forestal y Manejo Sostenible de los Recursos Naturales en Nicaragua".

1990:
Coordinator for a three-day workshop in Stockholm called "Challenges & Alternatives for Development Cooperation: Swedish Assistance to Latin America in the 1990s", with some 40 participants from Latin America and Sweden providing an overall assessment of Swedish development assistance to LA, analysing the current situation and making suggestions for the future.

Project leader for a three-day workshop in Stockholm called "Development Assistance for the 90's: Adjusting the Perspective", with some 25 scholars and politicians (mainly from the Third World) discussing major shortcomings and distortive impact of development assistance as seen from the perspective of recipient countries.

Project leader for a two-week rolling seminar and study trip in Sweden called "Encuentro Sobre las Experiencias Suecas del Desarrollo Democrático", carried out during that year's general elections in Sweden. Participants: High-ranking politicians and Heads of the Electoral Authorities from the five Central American countries; in total almost 20 people.
